England's Coach Tim Southee Unsure on The Ashes Participation

Tim Southee

Tim Southee's last Test match for the Kiwis was versus the English side in the final month of 2024.

England's bowling consultant Southee is currently evaluating what his involvement will be during the forthcoming Ashes series in the host nation.

The former New Zealand seamer is only likely to be present for the first Test because of his involvement in the ILT20 competition, which starts on 2 December in the UAE.

Southee, aged 36, took up a position as the English team's fast bowling consultant in the summer after taking 391 wickets in 107 Test matches for the Kiwis.

Commenting as the English squad for the first of three T20 matches against the Kiwis was named, he stated of his participation: "We are still evaluating that at the present time.

"We will determine what happens over the coming days."

England bowling legend Broad had declared the Australia team as their "weakest squad since 2010", but Southee was in no uncertainty over the anticipated challenge during the series, which begins on November 21.

"In my view there's at any time a bad Aussie side," he remarked.

"Our focus is firmly on our own objectives. I think the quality of [England's] side that's going out to Australia is brilliant.

"It ought to be an thrilling encounter, the Ashes. Not just [are|do] English and Australian people looking forward to it, I believe the whole cricket world is."

But, prior to the English team travel to the city of Perth for the opening Ashes Test, they face New Zealand in Christchurch on this Saturday.
