The City of Angels experienced citywide festivities after the Dodgers won a thrilling seven-match World Series championship. Fans across the globe joined local residents in jubilation, marking the first time in a quarter-century that a team has achieved consecutive championships.

Celebration Parade Attracts Massive Crowds

Los Angeles area events included a downtown parade on the morning of the parade, a reserved-seating event at Dodger Stadium, and spontaneous parties throughout the city.

Social media videos show thousands of Angelenos flooding city center avenues, many displaying handmade banners and Dodger flags. The team was seen traveling proudly on a open-top bus through the masses, hoisting the Commissioner’s trophy high.

“I’m already thinking about the next championship we’re going to achieve this,” the star player remarked through an translator.

The parade route ended at the stadium, where the team emerged to the rapper’s “Not Like Us,” with DJ Mustard spinning music and Ice Cube cruising a light blue classic car around the stadium’s outfield.

Festivities started prior to the parade, with supporters lighting flares in the streets of the city center on Sunday night.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto, awarded the World Series’ Most Valuable Player, commented plainly about the win.

“We refuse to lose,” he said. “I love the Dodgers. I love Los Angeles.”

Varied Responses and City Unity

In contrast, Mark Walter received a cooler welcome at the rally. Video footage from the gathering seem to depict him walking onstage to a combination of cheers and boos, with negative shouts punctuating his speech.

The World Series acted as a bright spot in what has been a trying year for the city. An estimated 225,000 people attended to the Dodgers’ victory parade last year, and according to team member Freddie Freeman, fans this year showed as much if not more support.

“It seems it’s almost double from last year,” Freeman remarked. “The supporters are incredible. It’s truly amazing to be a part of this.”
