National Guard Activated Ahead of Countrywide Anti-Authoritarian Demonstrations
GOP state leaders in multiple US regions have placed National Guard units on standby in anticipation of large-scale protests resisting Donald Trump and his policies.

Organizers of the "No Kings" initiative stated that assemblies are scheduled at more than 2,500 sites throughout the United States.
As per rally coordinators, the last No Kings protest in June brought out over five million participants opposing Trump's governmental agenda.
Local Measures
Governors in the Lone Star State and Virginia have formally mobilized their regional National Guard troops, though the level of military presence remains uncertain.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott mentioned the "organized radical demonstration" as reasoning for mobilizing regional military personnel.
Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin likewise ordered mobilization of the commonwealth's National Guard forces.
Partisan Responses
Protest organizers portrayed the events as resistance to Trump's "autocratic tendencies."
"The administration thinks his power is unlimited," participants argue on their website.
"However in the United States, we oppose monarchs and we won't back down against chaos, graft, and brutality."
Some Republicans have labeled the rallies as "Anti-American" events.
Kansas Senator Roger Marshall allegedly stated before the demonstrations: "We must get the National Guard."
"Ideally it'll be peaceful. I doubt it," he added.
Critic Response
Democratic figures criticized the activation of state personnel.
Texas Democrat Gene Wu asserted: "Sending armed soldiers to control calm protests is exactly what dictators and dictators do — and Greg Abbott just proved he's like them."
