"Observe such work. Observe this genocide," a combatant shouts.

He smiles as he points the camera on his own face and his associate fighters, their Rapid Support Forces badges clearly shown: "The victims shall all be killed in this manner."

These individuals are exulting in a atrocity that aid workers believe killed over two thousand people in the Sudan's urban center of el-Fasher during October.

An Urban Center Severed from the Outside

Following their control of the community under blockade for approximately an extended period, from the summer the RSF proceeded to strengthen its position and prevent access for the surviving inhabitants.

Space-based imagery demonstrate that fighters began to build a massive sand wall - a built-up sand barrier - around the boundaries of al-Fashir, blocking roads and blocking relief supplies.

As the siege worsened, seventy-eight individuals were killed in an RSF attack on a place of worship on 19 September, while the international organization reported 53 additional were murdered in aerial and cannon strikes on a refugee settlement in October.

Graphic Footage Shows Defenseless Civilians Gunned Down

At dawn on 26 October the paramilitary force defeated the final government defenses and captured the primary headquarters in the community, the command center of the 6th Infantry Division, as the government forces retreated.

One of the most graphic footage to appear and studied depicted the consequences of a mass killing at a university building on the west of the community, where dozens lifeless forms were visible spread over the floor.

An elderly person clad in a traditional garment was seated by himself surrounded by the corpses. He looked to gaze as a militiaman carrying with a firearm proceeded along the staircase towards the victim. pointing his rifle, the shooter fired a one shot at the man, who dropped to the floor still.

"How come is this person even living," a militiaman cried. "Shoot him."

Orbital photography taken on 26 October appeared to confirm that killings were also conducted on the roads of el-Fasher, as reported by a report published by the academic research center.

A key witness who provided testimony said the individual had observed "multiple of our family members being killed - the victims were gathered in a specific area and each one eliminated."

Paramilitary Officers Attempt to Implement Reputation Management

In the days that came after the massacre, militia chief admitted that his forces had committed "wrongdoings" and said the events would be investigated.

Included among arrested was following a investigation detailing his killings. Deliberately choreographed and produced footage published on the RSF's authorized social media channel depict the individual being led into a prison room at a detention facility on the outskirts of al-Fashir.

Simultaneously, the paramilitary force and connected social media channels started trying to alter the account.

Posts showing its combatants handing out aid to civilians were disseminated by several individuals, while the paramilitary's public relations unit shared numerous videos claiming to show the compassionate management of government captives.

In spite of the digital effort being used by the militia, their conduct in el-Fasher have sparked global condemnation.
