Renowned Actor Pat Finn, Known For Appearances in The Middle and Friends, Passes Away at 60 Years Old.
American performer Pat Finn, who featured in popular TV shows such as "Friends", Seinfeld and The Middle, has succumbed at 60 years old.
The comedy and improvisation performer died at home in Los Angeles on Monday after undergoing treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, per news outlets.
"He considered no one a stranger - solely future friends he hadn't encountered," his relatives stated in a message.
They added that he had "embraced life completely - with zest and passion".
A Prolific TV Career
His debut TV appearance was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he appeared as the lead character's sibling.
He also had a repeating character on "Murphy Brown" from 1995 to 1997.
He starred as Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in the late 90s, portraying a social organizer known to delegate unpleasant chores to his guests.
In the 90s and 2000s, he made guest appearances on several well-known programs, like:
- King of Queens
- "Friends"
- That '70s Show
- "House"
Finn was perhaps best known for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight seasons between 2011 and 2018.
His work in movies are It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
A Life in Improv
Away from his on-screen roles, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and also taught at the Colorado university, where he was an adjunct professor.
He was involved with a six-person improv troupe named "Beer Shark Mice".
"He coached, befriended and mentored many learners throughout the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who has anything negative to say about him," his loved ones expressed.
Offering condolences, fellow actor Richard Kind noted there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, helping you be funnier and better. An excellent dad and person," Kind wrote publicly.
Finn is leaves behind his partner Donna, his children, and his parents and siblings.
