Shock as Renowned South African DJ Shot Dead in Johannesburg.
A popular South African radio and club DJ has been murdered in the country's largest city Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a nation grappling with entrenched crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the central business district on Tuesday afternoon.
Police said the forty-year-old entertainer was approached by a trio of assailants, with one opened fire on him before running away.
The reason of the attack has not been established and no suspects have been apprehended have been made, as per the official statement.
How It Happened
Police said that Stock was ambushed as he was exiting a premises in the vicinity of the city center landmark.
He had been present for hours at the building managing the installation of safety equipment, which had been reportedly taken over by unidentified individuals, according to reports.
"Authorities believe the man was confronted by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they began shooting at him before fleeing the scene on foot," authorities stated.
Security camera video reportedly depicted a man with dreadlocked hair and dressed in what appeared to be a guard's attire opening fire on Stock before making his escape.
The DJ tried to run away after he was wounded but fell down a short distance away.
Police added that Stock had an unused firearm and it was not a robbery during the attack.
Important clues, like bullet casings, were found at the crime scene.

Officials are asking anyone who saw the event who may have witnessed the attack to assist with the investigation.
"Our information indicates they traveled on foot after the shooting, and investigators have been following their trail to establish their location," remarked an authority figure.

His family member, Nicole Stock, said the relatives are devastated to come to terms with the loss.
"I am in shock. I don't have words," were her words.
"We know he was a voice for many people. He addressed issues courageously about topics not many people were ready to tackle. This is a tremendous loss."
She requested the public to avoid sharing disturbing footage from the scene, explaining this was an extremely painful time, above all for Stock's young family.
