Slot Insists He Is Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot acknowledged that it was understandable for doubts to be asked about his future after a further heavy defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in 12 games, representing the club's worst streak after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a tough night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I have got significant support from the top,” Slot commented.

“It would be nice to change things and earn three points of course but when you're working as a coach and struggling then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my situation. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to expand on his conversations with the team officials, the head coach revealed:

“We talk a lot. They assist for the squad and to me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me every single minute of the day to say they trust me.”

He added, “Through standard exchanges I perceive the confidence. But I've not talked to them after this game yet so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Problems and Squad Response

The manager lamented known shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their European loss, namely poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder stated.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the team I support. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a spell like this with results this poor.”

He concluded, “But we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And as long as that badge is taken away, we will always battle.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad back to the top, show everyone once more what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the greatest side in the planet.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
