The network's Top New Show of This Year Earns a Major Extension for an Additional Two Seasons.

Last October, Adult Swim debuted a new season of its offbeat hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, shortly thereafter, the channel unveiled a completely new animated series with a markedly softer feel. Haha, You Clowns was heartwarming and calm, in the spirit of a animated take of a serene talk show. During a period often defined by bleakness, this show's earnestness resonated deeply and turned it into a breakout hit.

A Significant Investment

On December 18th, the network confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been renewed for two more seasons. This offers creator Joe Cappa ample opportunity to further explore the world of the Campbell family. The series follows three respectful teenage brothers whose primary trait is their profound affection for their single father, with Cappa voicing for all four central characters.

"I am incredibly thankful to the fans of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and helped it grow," remarked Cappa. "I am overjoyed that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for seasons to come."

Network Praise

In the same announcement laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "profoundly sincere and uniquely eerie." He thanked the fans who found the show and advocated for its uniquely offbeat style.

"All of you supported this new show, rooted for it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," said Ouweleen. "As the show says: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Different Kind of Comedy

Earlier this fall, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a gentle counterpart" to other adult animated fare. It offers something surprisingly comfy about following this lovable family navigate their simple existence.

At the time, creator Joe Cappa stated his goal to move the comedy genre beyond its long-running layer of irony. He linked this trend to various cultural shifts.

“We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we are trapped in,” noted Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for too long, and we just have to laugh at something different now. It's time for comedy to grow.”

Future Seasons

Now, with Haha, You Clowns locked in for the future, Cappa has the opportunity to be part of that change he described. At a minimum, the renewal promises audiences more opportunities to enjoy the heartfelt moments of the beloved Campbell clan.

The final episode of Season 1 of Haha, You Clowns is scheduled to air on December 21st. The complete first season is ready to watch on HBO Max.
