Three-time MVP Jokic suffers a 'gut-wrenching' leg setback.
Thrice-crowned National Basketball Association Most Valuable Player Nikola Jokic suffered a "devastating" knee injury when the Nuggets lost 147-123 to the Heat.
The Serbian center sustained the injury in the latter stages of the opening half following an unintentional coming together with team-mate Jones.
His teammate landed on the footwear of Jokic, and he immediately went down to the floor clutching his leg.
The 30-year-old, that leads the league season in boards and dimes, had 21 points and eight dimes in the matchup before incurring the setback.
He will have an MRI on Tuesday to evaluate the severity of the injury.
"Immediately, Jokic realized there was a problem," stated Nuggets coach Adelman.
"Injuries are part of the game. Whoever who gets hurt, that's difficult, most notably a player as special as he is. We'll find out more tomorrow."
"The team will adjust together. Of course, currently, I'm more worried primarily about him personally and the frustration of going through a situation like that."
